The service
cbamrates provides API access to reference datasets — currently grid carbon intensity by country and year, sourced from Ember's Yearly Electricity Data (CC BY 4.0). A CBAM default-value product is planned but not yet available; no data is loaded for it, and it is not offered for sale.
Accounts and API keys
Each API key is issued to one account. You're responsible for keeping your key confidential and for all activity made under it. Keys are shown once at issuance and are not recoverable — if lost, a new one must be issued. Don't share a key issued for your own use with unrelated third parties or resell access under it without our agreement (marketplace resale, e.g. via RapidAPI or Zyla, is handled separately through our own arrangements with those platforms, not through customer keys).
Acceptable use
Use the API within the rate limits and call quotas of your plan. Don't attempt to circumvent rate limiting, scrape beyond your plan's entitlement, or use the service in a way that disrupts it for other customers. We reserve the right to suspend a key that we reasonably believe is being abused.
Billing
Subscription plans renew automatically each billing period until cancelled. Prepaid call packs are a one-time purchase; the credited calls don't expire and are consumed as you use the API. The free tier (50 calls/month) requires no payment method and resets on a rolling monthly cycle. All payments are processed by Stripe — we never see or store your card details.
Data accuracy — please read this one
Data is provided "as is," sourced from the third parties cited in each API response. We take reasonable care to import and serve it correctly, but we don't warrant that any figure is complete, current, or fit for a specific regulatory, legal, or compliance purpose. If you're using this data to support an actual compliance decision (tax, customs, regulatory reporting, or otherwise), verify the figure against the original source before relying on it. This is a reference-data lookup tool, not compliance advice.
Availability
We aim for high uptime but don't currently offer a formal service-level agreement or uptime guarantee. This is an early-stage product — we'll update this section if and when that changes.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate a key for abuse, non-payment, or violation of these terms. You can cancel a subscription at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date. Continued use of the API after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law — pending
This section is deliberately left open. The business's registered legal jurisdiction is still being finalized, and we'd rather leave this unspecified than assert a jurisdiction before that's actually settled. It will be filled in once confirmed.
